Johann Carolus is the inventor of the newspaper. He was born on 26 March 1575 in the Roman Empire of the German Nation. He was the son of a priest and his wife. He made an apprenticeship as a bookbinder and later worked as a bookseller, a scribe for a newspaper and as a print shop owner.


Around the end of the 16th century, news was handwritten and was spread in several of the major European cities, helped by an efficient postal service developed in the Holy Roman Empire. Carolus came up with the idea of ​​printing a weekly version of the news brought by mail users.


The relationship was printed on Wednesday night and copies were delivered to the most distant subscribers to Postreuter (post rider) for delivery. First run relationship 's was thought to be between 150 and 200 copies, which were sent throughout the Empire, but especially in Alsace. But sadly he died on 15 August 1634 at the age of 59 years but lived a beautiful life.
